MochiMochi Card — Privacy Policy
Summary
MochiMochi Card has no server of its own and no MochiMochi Card account. The business cards you scan, recognized contact details, and images are processed on your iPhone. MochiMochi Card does not operate analytics or behavioral tracking; the free-tier AdMob SDK processes advertising-related data under Google's policy.
1. Where your data lives
- Structured card fields, recognized text, images, meeting context, tags, your digital card: in the iPhone app sandbox, encrypted with iOS file protection.
- The Release version does not provide external address-book export, so no external-service authorization token is created.
- MochiMochi Card does not upload any of the above to our servers — we have none.
2. What we process, why, and on what basis
| Data | Purpose | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Card image and OCR text | Recognize and organize into a contact | Your request |
| Contact fields (name, company, title, department, phone, email, address, social…) | Core card-library function | Your request |
| Meeting context, tags, notes | Relationship management | Your request |
| Local action log (action type + time only, no field content, kept 90 days) | Audit / troubleshooting | Legitimate interest (minimized) |
We do not independently collect diagnostics / crash / behavioral data, location, or personal data beyond contacts. There is no third-party analytics SDK in the app; the free-tier AdMob SDK may process device, advertising, and interaction data under Google's policy. See §3A.
Ads (free tier, non-Pro): If you have not purchased Pro, the app may show Google AdMob Rewarded ads before saving a new card after the first 50 cards. The ad must be completed before saving; cancellation or no-fill does not save the card. Google processes ad-related data under its policies; this may include device identifiers, advertising IDs, and IP. Pro removes ads permanently. See §3A below.
3. Card recognition
In Release 1.0, business-card recognition runs entirely on your iPhone. Card images and recognized text are not sent to third-party AI providers for recognition.
3A. Free-tier ads (Google AdMob)
- Who sees them: Users who have not purchased MochiMochi Card Pro and are past the lifetime first-50-cards ad-free trial.
- When: Before saving a new card after recognition and confirmation. The Rewarded ad must be completed; it never blocks capture or editing.
- Frequency: Starting with card 51, a Rewarded ad may appear before each new card save (except for Pro).
- Data: Ads are served by Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), which may process device identifiers, advertising data, product interaction, coarse location (IP), and performance / crash / other diagnostic data per Google's iOS data disclosure and Privacy Policy. We do not receive your card content for ads.
- Tracking (ATT): MochiMochi Card does not use App Tracking Transparency, will not show a tracking permission prompt, and does not track you for advertising. We always request non-personalized ads (
npa=1) and have disabled Publisher First-Party ID. Pro removes ads permanently. - Control: Your system ad settings (Settings › Privacy & Security › Apple Advertising) may still affect how personalized ads are.
- Trial count: The 50-card trial is stored on-device in Keychain on a best-effort basis (not guaranteed across devices).
4. Exporting to external address books
When you choose Add to system Contacts, you write selected cards one-way into the Contacts app on your iPhone. You always preview first. MochiMochi Card does not import from system Contacts or automatically sync in both directions. If your iPhone's default Contacts account is iCloud, Apple syncs those contacts to your other Apple devices according to your account settings; that sync is managed by Apple and your account settings, not by a MochiMochi Card cloud service. If you share a CSV or vCard, or share to LINE, WhatsApp, or another app, the data is sent to the recipient you choose.
Copies written to system Contacts or shared with another app or service are not automatically deleted when you delete data in MochiMochi Card; delete them through the receiving app or service according to its features and policy.
The Release version currently does not provide export to Google, Outlook, or other external address books.
5. Your rights and controls
- Sharing: The Release version provides Share CSV and Share vCard; full-backup sharing, export, import, and restore are not supported. A shared CSV contains card contact details; keep it safe.
- Delete (four operations, each labeled with what it affects):
- Clear all data — deletes everything on the iPhone (library, images, recognized text, merge-undo records, your digital card, and local settings).
- The Release version does not create or manage external address-book authorization tokens. Copies shared with other apps or written to system Contacts must be removed through those apps.
- Correct: edit any field directly in the app.
- Because data is primarily on your device and there is no MochiMochi Card account, we cannot access or delete it for you. Requests concerning data shared with a third party must be made to that third party; local actions are completed in the app.
6. Permissions
- Camera: to photograph cards.
- Photos: to import card photos from your library.
- Contacts: to write organized contacts after you confirm.
7. Retention
Data is kept until you delete it. Export job records are cleared 30 days after success; the local action log is cleared after 90 days. The app runs these on launch.
8. Children
MochiMochi Card is designed for business users, is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect their personal data.
9. Third parties
- Apple Contacts / iCloud: when you choose to write to system Contacts, iOS Contacts processes the data; if the default account is iCloud, Apple and your account settings manage later synchronization.
- Google AdMob (free tier only, when §3A applies): see §3A.
- Names and trademarks belong to their respective owners; this app refers to them nominatively to describe functionality, with no affiliation or endorsement.
10. Changes
We update the effective date on this page when the policy changes; material changes are surfaced in the app.
